☁️ SCAYLE Cloud Infrastructure

Since its inception, SCAYLE has strongly committed to Cloud Computing and its associated methodologies, understanding that this technology represents an efficient way of using IT infrastructures.

The center participates in Cloud technology development projects and offers services based on it, providing end users with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), granting on-demand access to resources such as storage, servers, networks, and virtualization. 🖥️🌐


🖥️ Virtual Machines in SCAYLE

The use of virtual machines (VMs) makes it easier to back them up and dynamically adjust their characteristics, adapting to user needs at any time.

SCAYLE’s virtual infrastructure is based on VMware ESXi servers, designed with a focus on load balancing and high availability. ⚖️✅

Currently, the platform includes:

  • 20 hypervisors distributed across 5 clusters
  • 18 TB of total RAM available 🧠
  • More than 500 TB of accessible storage 💾
  • Around 600 active virtual machines 🖥️

📦 Storage System

The servers are connected to a high-performance storage system with the following features:

  • Transfer rates of up to 25 Gb/s 🚀
  • Multi-Tier storage with HDD and NVMe/SSD disks 🔄
  • More than 65,000 IOPS of performance ⚡

🔒 Backup and Availability

As a differential service, the virtualization platform offers a backup system that ensures the protection of customer data under the IaaS model.

Backups are managed following the 3-2-1 rule:

  • 3 copies of the data
  • On 2 different media
  • With 1 copy stored offsite

Backup Methods

  1. Direct replication between storage arrays

    • Daily snapshot and replication of all volumes.
    • Only available in case of a total failure of the physical infrastructure, not for end-user use.
  2. Veeam Backup & Replication (VB&R)

    • VM snapshots with incremental copies.
    • At least 2 weekly copies are maintained.

🌐 External Access and Security

Users can access their instances externally through:

  • Public IP assignment with specific rules in SCAYLE firewalls 🔐
  • Access to the VM’s SSH server and its web interface 🌍
  • Creation of the necessary users to upload data and run queries 📊

All while ensuring compliance with the center’s security standards.


⚙️ Network Connectivity

The infrastructure is integrated into a high-capacity network architecture:

  • 400 Gb/s backbone interconnection 🌐
  • 100 Gb/s downlinks to the virtualization infrastructure 📡
