Julia is a high-performance multiplatform programming language for generic, technical and scientific computing, with a syntax similar to that of other similar computing environments.
It has an advanced compiler (JIT), mechanisms for parallel and distributed execution, as well as an extensive library of mathematical functions. The library, developed primarily in Julia, also contains code developed in C or Fortran, for linear algebra, random number generation, signal processing, and string processing.
